The Manly Art Of Knitting by Dave Fougner (published 1972)

I saw this at my local library and couldn’t resist checking it out. The chapters teaching the basics and pattern stitches aren’t that well done, but I had to share some of the projects. Please note that the horse blanket is knitted on a 40” piece of leaky hose with sharpened ends and that the rope hammock uses either shovel handles or pool cues as needles.

i am suddenly filled with a desperate need to knit with pool cues.

victoriousvocabulary:

LEVIATHAN
[noun]
a sea monster referred to in the Bible. In Demonology, the Leviathan is one of the seven princes of Hell and its gatekeeper (see Hellmouth - the entrance to Hell envisaged as the gaping mouth of a huge monster). The word has become synonymous with any large sea monster or creature. In literature (e.g., Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick) it refers to great whales, and in Modern Hebrew, it simply means “whale.”
